Female Torture|Sexual Harassment: Definition, Reasons and Suggestions

Overview:

Very sorry to say that form the ancient period female is being tortured severely. Now it is increasing day by day. With the passage of time the way of being tortured has been changed and in some case continuing. Though these female are our mother, sister, wife or others form of relative. It is shame for us that we are torturing them. We torture them for very little reason even in much
case without any reasons. Many women cannot able to bearing such terrible torture, sexual harassment, evtising and insult. Finally, they want to get rid of by committing suicide. Though their existence could make us happy in our family life and could make social-economical development.

Generally female torture means physical, mental or sexual torture and harassment. Any decision which is imposed to women without her consent and this decision minimized her right, is also under the definition of female torture. These tortures can be in many ways-individually, family, jointly, socially and so on.

Reasons of Women Torturing:

There is variety of reasons of women torturing. It differs country to country, age to age, culture to culture, religion to religion, and so on. I can summarize the following reasons behind the female torture.

01. Dowry: In the least developed countries, underdeveloped countries and developing countries, the most common reasons for torture is dowry. We see that, in those countries father of girls are bound to give dowry to the husband. In most cases, husband again and again demand dowry. As the economic condition of both family is not good, husband demand again and aging but wife’s family cannot demand of dowry money. Finally, husband and his family start to torture brutally. Because of the trouble, social restrictions and cost of marriage girls cannot get back to her father’s family rather bear the malicious torture.

02. Lack of Religious Knowledge: Every religion has ensured the right of women but very regretful to say that most people specially man use the religion to make discrimination between man and women. They misinterpret the religion law. They do not full fill the obligation toward the women which are directed in the religion but the take the opportunity of misrepresentation of religion.

03. Discriminatory Attitude towards the Women: From the ancient period there is discrimination between men and women. I think this discrimination is created by men. As male is leading the society from the begging of the world, that’s why they use the women for their own need and they make the female dependent on them. They build a belief that women will always bear torture and male will always torture them. If anyone protests the torture, then society will blame her. I can give my practical example, in most of the family, when father or male member are sick they are well treated. They find themselves good doctor, medicine or hospital facility. But in case of women, even in case of mother, they do not get proper medical facility. Male member do not bring them to doctor, not provide medicine or hospital facility. At all events they just wait for natural treatment or at the eleven hour go to the village doctor or kobiraj.

04. Social Disintegration: Because of social collapse a large number of young people are becoming drug addicted. Drag addicted people especially young people are losing the social value. They are becoming animal. They do not treat the women as mother or sister. They enjoy evtising and mental and physical torturing.

05. Negative Response to Love Proposal: Now a day it is very much common. A boy who is saying he loves a girl, if the girl refuses him; he will torture her mentally even physically. What king of love is it? 

06. Bad Companionship: Many boys are becoming evtiser because of bad companionship. I have seen that it is a heroic task to evtise a girl or women in the friend circle. Boys are encouraged by his friend circle. A good evtiser becomes hero in the friend circle. Basically they want to get enjoyment by evtising-it’s a disease of the society. But they do not remember that their little enjoyment can lead a girl to die.

07. Presenting the Women as a Product by the Media: In the Hollywood, Bollywood and others film industry women are presented as not only sex symbol but also as product. They want to show the women’s body not their performing arts which create sick outlook over the society towards female. Seeing the adult seen in the movie, young boys and girls are being adult before the age. Young boys cannot full fill sexual need and finally they start evtising and even raping. Presenting the women as product decrease the value of women in the society and people start to think women to consume. In the advertisement we see that irrelevantly women’s body is presented.

08. Bohemian life of women and men.

Device or Methods of Torture Used: In the world there are many methods of torture. In most case the following torturing device and method for torturing are used to the female.

01. Rape:  Rape or mass rape is the cruelest form of torture in the world. It is different form of others tortures. It impact on women’s body, individual entity, self respect. After the victim of rape women become embarrassed socially. It is problem around the world not for a country. According to a report, in 2012 total 23582 women are raped in India, in 2010 total 84767 women are raped in United State of America.¹  Per 40 minutes 1 women in United Kingdom, 1 out of 5 women in USA, 1 out of 10 women in Norway are being raped. 1 Male out of 10 male are accused of rape in the world.

02. Evtising or Sexual Harassment: Most common form of mental torture over the world is evtising and/or sexual harassment.  

03. Female Breast Mutilation and/or Removal: One of the most brutal tortures is breast mutilation and/or removal.

04. Damage of Vagina and/or Mouth: It may seem to be unbelievable but it is the reality. Many women are facing the one of another atrocious torture that is damage or smash up of vagina and/or mouth.

05. Sexual Harassment in the workplace: Female is facing sexual harassment mentally and physically in the workplace by their colleague though there are educated. According to media and government information about 40% to 60% female workers are tortured in their workplace. According to European Women Lobby, in the United Kingdom 40 % -50% women are victimized by their male colleague. 

06. Torture of women in prison: Women are also tortured in the prison.

Suggestions to Stop Female Torture: I personally suggest the following maters to stop female torture.

01. Family member specially father and mother should be care full about their child. They should be grown up properly. Father personally should honor female member of the family and teach his child to honor. Family should ensure equal opportunity for all family members.

02. Have to honor the women and the right of women.

03. Strong religious value should be created. Society has to ensure the facility of the women given by the religion.

04. Society has to create awareness and protest female torture.

05. Must avoid the evtiser and female torturer. Bring under the law and punishment.

06. Should impose restriction and control on mobile phone, internet and pornography and so on.

07. Educational institution and social institution should be care full. They should perform actively.

08. Govt. has to stop time waste, gossip, bad companionship by creating employment opportunity for the unemployed people

09. Responsive male people should come forward to prohibit sexual harassment and female torture.

10.  Anti dowry protest should be enhanced. Government should bring them under the law and ensure punishment.

11. People should protect and give up such people socially, economically and politically.

12. Should give proper counseling to the young generation who make sexual harassment just for pleasure. They have to think from the position of female.

13. Local authority, government, and law enforcement authority should be care full and have to perform their responsibility toward the women.

14. Practice of healthy entertainment.

15. Women should not wear sexual appealing dress. They should stop sexual attitude.

16. Media, fashion house, diet and cosmetic industry, commercial organization have to stop express women as product. They should not sell the body of women. They have to honor the quality of women.

17. Finally, the most important thing is; women should be care full about their right. They should learn how to honor themselves. Where is there strength? They are the most valuable person of the world that is “mother”. They have to keep honoring of mother. They are not a product, they are not for sell.
