Although most of the candidates do not like the interview process, but every job seeker has to face interview. By observing different interview it has been found that some common questions are frequently asked in most of the interview board. So, if any candidate can take preparation on the common question before the interview, it will be easy for him/her to pass in the interview.

Here, most common interview question and answer are given. I am discussing it in two parts. I have collected the question, answer and images from the various website.

Question – 01: Tell me about or regarding yourself.
Or, How would you explain/describe/express yourself?
Or, Tell this board/ panel about yourself.
Or, Could you tell me a little about yourself?
Or, Walk me through your background.
Or, Walk me through your resume.

Actually interviewer does not want to know: Your childhood, your life story, your hometown, your personal life, your hobbies, details of your family, children, father or mother,

Actually interviewer wants to know: Your academic background, your professional details that mean professional/job experience, career goals, your poise, delivery style, communication ability.

Answer Suggestion: Make your answer as a professional. You have to remember about the type of job/position, culture of the company, environment of the company. Your answer should be relevant with the job or position. Your answer should be as like you are suitable for the position. Emphasize on your academic qualification, academic background, related job experience [if any], family background [if related with job] and other activities which is related to your profession [say, you were a member of social organization which has enhanced your organizing/leading capacity], your others positive qualifications. You have to answer within five minutes.

 It is better; you prepare your details statement which describes you quickly.

Common Mistake: Many interviewee gives long answer and start with, “Thank you, I am X. I am from Y village of Z thana, S district…………. I admitted in primary school in 19xx and participate final examination in 19xx………… passed in 19xx……….”
Hypothetical answer: My name is A. My home district is M. I have completed my graduation from X university majored in Y and internship from Z company. During my academic and internship life I have learned ……. [Topics related with job]. As a member/ president/ secretary of S organization I have gather organizing skill.

Question – 02: What can you tell me about our company and/or industry?
Or, Please, Say something what you know regarding this company and/or industry.
Or, what do you know about this company?

Actually interviewer wants to know: not only your interest about job but also your interest about the company and/or industry.

Answer Suggestion: To answer this question you have to collect information before the interview. You can go through the company website and check their “About us” page. You should give emphasis to product, management, market share, major achievement and financial performance of the company. Write down some key point which you can answer in the interview board.

Question – 03: Why did you choose this company?
Or, why do you want to work here?
Or, why do you work for my company/organization?
Or, why do you want to work at Y Company?

Actually interviewer wants to know: do you know the company well, does the company activities match with you qualification, you are not participating in the interview as it is open rather you are interested about the job.
Why do you choice this company?
Answer Suggestion: First of all you have to know details information the company. Inform you have learned about company culture and others necessary information. Then you have to make relation your experience and qualification with the company requirement. You can point out your career objective, career plans. You can mention, as a professional how you will be benefited from the company and how the company will be benefited from you professionally.
Hypothetical Answer: I have selected some companies/ organizations whose vision and mission are closely similar to my values. From where I can build my career and can utilize my knowledge and experience. I think this company can full fill my desire.

Question – 04: Tell me about a strength you have.
Or, what is your greatest strength?

Actually interviewer wants to know: your job related strength, your integrity, honesty, your greatness।

Answer Suggestion: Try to say positive work related strength you deserve but not make exaggerate and not say which quality you do not deserve. For example, your job experience, job related achievement you are applying for, strongest individuality, can work under pressure, have motivating power, self motivator, can work in team, can work for long time and optimistic.

Hypothetical Answer: I am a communicative person. It is my pleasure to meet and work among different people. Actually I enjoy it. I am imaginative and innovative and get pleasure from solving problem.

What is your greatest strength?

Question – 05: What are three positive things your last boss would say about you?
Or, if your previous co-workers were here, what would they say about you?

Answer Suggestion: your answer should be positive don’t mention your negative things those your coworker or boss said. In such a case you can use answer of question no – 04.

Question – 06: What is your major/biggest fault/flaw?
Or, what are your utmost/greatest weaknesses?
Or, what is your limitation/drawback/weakness?

Interviewer actually wants to know: how much you are self aware and honest, is your weakness will harm the job, how much you are proactive to improve your weakness,

Answer Suggestion: Don’t try to say, you have no lacking/weakness/fault/limitation or you are perfectionist or you don’t know it.  Say ‘weakness' which is not related to the post [uneasiness of verbal communication if the post does not demand it], qualities which you are improving. You should represent your personal weakness which is turned into professional strength that means reduce your fault and capitalize on your strength. You can explain how you overcame the problems you faced in the past job. You better to ask your friend or colleague to know about your weakness.
What is your weakness?
Hypothetical Example: I have completed my graduation from a university which is very much reputed in my country but not familiar in this country. I feel uncomfortable to speck about my greatness. I am not an exceptional sales man [if, not necessary for the job]. Always I try to hand over every assignment perfectly and I am detail-oriented that’s why sometimes it takes more time  but now I  am trying to spend less time. Because of my over attention to my work I completely forget every things even eating, friends and family members until I have solved all the problems. As a result many of my colleagues are professionally jealous to me. 

Question – 07: What relevant experience do you have?
Or, do you have any relevant job experience?

Answer Suggestion: Though, in case of fresher experience is not necessary, you can mention your organizing capacity if you acquired in the academic life. If you are experienced, then share your job related experience. It is not necessary to share experience which is not related the job you are applying for. But you can mention if previous job experience help any way the desired job performance. You have to find out previous experience which is related.
